Angela Puerta is a six-time MAMA award winner and Best of Madison 2019 and 2020 Latin Artist bronze and silver star. She is a Colombian singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Madison, Wisconsin. Angela defines her music as eclectic since it is a reflection of the different cultures she has been exposed to. Her main music influence is Alternative Rock, Rock en Español, Pop, Reggae, Colombian folklore and other Latin American rhythms. After landing in Madison in the Fall of 2013, Angela Puerta obtained a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the UW-Madison in 2015. Music is her passion, but she equally embraces her career as an urban planner for the City of Madison, where she is a neighborhood advocate and an active member of the Greater Madison Music City team. Angela draws inspiration for work and entertainment paths from her travels including her home country, Colombia; Australia, where she lived for two years; and the United States, the place she now calls home. When she is not planning or performing, Angela is studying music theory and improving her guitar skills.

Shakira Tribute Band is composed of a dynamic 5-piece ensemble that utilizes additional electronic instruments to replicate all the rich sounds produced by Shakira. The band covers popular songs such as 'Hips Don't Lie,' 'Loca,' 'Waka Waka,' and 'Whenever, Wherever.' Members of the band: Angela Puerta (vocals), Joshua Velazquez (bass), Kyle Rightley (guitar), Dave Randall (drums), Johan Galindo (congas).

Angela Puerta Band is a 4-piece Latin Rock group deeply rooted in Afro-Colombian rhythms such as Cumbia, Bambuco, Salsa, and Vallenato. Formed in 2018, the band has been a consistent presence, gracing stages at music festivals across WI. and energizing private events with their infectious sound. With a mission to fuse tropical music with familiar American genres like rock and pop, Angela Puerta Band serves as a vibrant bridge between cultural worlds. Their performances are a lively mix of Latin beats, Colombian folkloric melodies, and beloved tunes in both English and Spanish, promising to get audiences dancing and grooving.

Angela Puerta also offers a show for elementary and middle school children. It is a children music band that incorporates Latin beats, Colombian folkloric music, and other familiar songs in both English and Spanish. Kids dance and further explore a wide variety of Afro-Latino songs while having fun. The band has performed at Kids in the Rotunda, Olbrich Botanical Gardens, various elementary/middle schools events and private celebrations around Wisconsin. Angela is also working as a teaching artist with the Overture Center for the Arts on the Lullaby Project, which is a pilot program that aims to create lullaby songs in collaboration with expectant/new mothers and their families.

Angela joined Grupo Candela in the summer of 2018 as a lead singer. Grupo Candela is a 12-piece Latin music powerhouse. Based in Madison, WI., it is among the longest-running Latin bands in town. Featuring an all-star lineup of Latin music legends, Grupo Candela offers a diverse repertoire of dance-oriented songs which includes salsa, merengue, cumbia, bachata, bomba, and plena. The band has been playing steady since its inception in 2005.
